The Gunaratana Library was strategically moulded in the early eighties where research was ongoing to provide a storehouse of Dhamma books to cater and in support of a growing English speaking group of Buddhists. Consultative assistance was provided by a qualified librarian from British Council that sources of books could be collected from buddhist writers or speakers rather than buying as the library is a non-profit organisation which may not have the funds for this ambitious pursuance.
Over the years, 4 decades now, we saw a revamp that streamlines our core strategies of Buddhist Dhamma learning. Though reading has been on a decline, nevertheless the Buddha Dhamma is priceless, we have rebranded ourself as a Research based library for fellow buddhist who are keen on seeking the truth given the vast collection of good reading materials, including books from the Pali Text Society.
